An Authentic ' Faust '?

When Heine wrote his Doktor Faust he declared in his preface that Goethe in his version a few years before ' had wrecked the original Marlovian vision.'
BASIL ASHMORE , who has translated Heine's little-known version into English, argues that Busoni in his opera treats the Faust legend exactly in a way Heine would have approved.
