Big Daddy returns from a medical check-up to a birthday party-convinced that he is a fit man. The festivities are strained however, since half the family know that he has cancer. When he learns the truth, a crisis develops.
This portrait of the tensions in a dying millionaire's home - based on Tennessee Williams's controversial play -is dominated by Elizabeth Taylor's outrageous performance as the ' cat' determined not to jump off the roof, whatever pain it costs her.
