For keen climbers the remote beauty of Scotland's far north is the spiritual heart of the Highlands, but until recently this remote region with its stark mountains and sparkling lochs lacked even a proper guidebook.

Cameron McNeish meets climbers like Clive Rowland, Alan Fyffe, Andy Cunningham and Mick Fowler who have recently been inspired by the mystery of this vast landscape and joins them on a variety of terrains, from the hard rock of the Ardmair crags to the classic winter climb, Emerald Gully on snowbound Beinn Dearg. Also, Fowler is seen on the first ascent of a spectacular ice fall.
