Stevenson's macabre tale of grave-robbing in 19th-century Edinburgh, Boris Karloff plays Gray, a sinister procurer of cadavers for dissection. He has a mysterious but total hold over MacFarlane, a gifted doctor who is tormented by his knowledge of the grave-robber's crimes.
