A concert of Baroque sacred music given last year in the Royal Chapel at the Palace of Versailles. The shadow of death hovered over the French Court during the early years of the 18th century, and this programme reflects the intensity of those troubled years with Michel Richard de Lalande's "De Profundis", sung at the funeral of Louis XIV, and the celebrated Requiem Mass by Andre Campra.
Hjordis Thebault and Nicola Wemyss (sopranos), Francois-Nicolas Geslot (countertenor), Laurent Slaars (tenor), Arnaud Marzorati (bass), Chorus and Orchestra of Les Arts Florissants, director William Christie
