As Penny Bustin reports, increasing thirst for clean homes, clean food and green gardens is having a devastating effect on the environment. Rivers are being drained dry, important wet-land sites all but destroyed by water companies under pressure to supply that demand. Could water metering be the answer? Producer Ian Lilley
