For over three decades the great Austrian pianist Alfred Brendel has been generally regarded as the foremost exponent of the Classical repertoire, though Schumann, Brahms, Liszt and Chopin have also featured in his concert repertoire. This week Humphrey Burton trawls through the rich Brendel archive, with observations from Brendel himself.
