Edited and introduced by James Fisher
Pigeon Problems
There is a good deal still to be learnt about the four species of pigeon which breed with us, and about the collared dove which has recently colonised this country.
MICHAEL RIDPATH tells of his investigations into the pattern of wood pigeon migrations. Miss Tkrry GOMPERTZ enquires into street pigeon ecology in Hampstead, and compares notes with DEREK GOODWIN who has been working on the stock dove also in London. The astonishing spread of the collared dove north-westwards across Europe from Turkey to Holland and now to Britain is outlined by JAMES FISHER.
