The Day That Changed My Life: Making Waves

on BBC Two England

The first of six programmes in which people recall an extraordinary experience that altered their world for ever.

Lesley Morris had always dreamt of being a Wren in the Royal Navy. She joined up when she was 17, but the dream soon turned sour.
She felt undermined, humiliated and sexually harassed, and on 28 February 1995 she tried to commit suicide. When she was subsequently discharged, she took the Navy to an industrial tribunal and was awarded damages for sexual discrimination. This programme explores her attempts to regain her dignity and self-esteem.
