4: Overheard by Marian, Glyde has confessed to Fosco he is deeply in debt and in mortal terror that Anne Catherick will reveal his deadly secret. Marian fell seriously ill before she could take action. As she lay helpless, Fosco set up his intricate plot to steal Laura's fortune.
