A film from
The Man Alive Report Reporters Anna Ford and Jeanne la Chard
The award of the Nobel Peace Prize to Betty Williams and Mairead Corrigan once more focuses the world's attention on the Northern Ireland Peace Movement. But ironically the prize has come at a time when the Peace
Movement itself is under fiercer attack than ever, when some of its critics claim it is a spent force.
Tonight's film was completed ten months ago when the movement was beginning to get down to what they described as 'the hard work of peace.'.
It reveals the pressures on Mairead Corrigan , Ciaran McKeown and Betty Williams , the movement's leaders. And it shows some of the difficulties and dangers they, and the other Peace People, still face today in trying to bring peace to troubled Ulster.
