The series exploring the characteristics of vegetation focuses on plants that are tough enough to survive hostile conditions and thrive on the poor sort of soil normally associated with housing estates. Presenter Chris Collins shows how, by using plants like eucalyptus, grasses, buddleia and euphorbia, an arid new garden can be brought to life. Along the way he meets people who share his passion for "SAS" foliage, including a cacti fanatic and the head gardener at RHS Garden Hyde Hall , Chelmsford.
