Stranded in a remote desert outpost in Chad, television reporter David Locke returns to his hotel and finds a fellow guest has died of a heart attack. Impulsively he changes identity with the man, leaving for London to follow 'Robertson's' itinerary. The complications of his new identity become more dangerous as Locke/Robertson moves slowly towards an inevitable fate.
This mesmerising film is one of Antonioni's later masterpieces.
