Worldwide: Olympic Off-beat

on BBC Two England

There are 21 international sports in this year's Olympics; all originally national sports with many owing their world popularity to television coverage. Television is the hope for many other local sports to become Olympic events of the future - sheep shearing, ice sailing, tractor pulling... Worldwide looks at some unusual aspirants in different parts of the world as well as an Olympic event which is not greatly publicised - The Handicapped Games. Two weeks after Montreal, 1,700 athletes - all disabled - from 53 countries will match their skills in Toronto.
