Michael Berkeley talks to the novelist Elizabeth Jane Howard, whose published work includes 12 novels, a collection of short stories, many television plays and an autobiographical memoir entitled Slipstream. The granddaughter of the composer Sir Arthur Somervell, Elizabeth Jane Howard has always loved music, and her choices include a Scarlatti sonata played by her friend, pianist Nina Milkina, concertos by members of the Bach family and Mozart, a song by Richard Strauss and Brahms's St Anthony Variations.
