The Aristocracy

on BBC Two England

Another chance to see this four-part series, first shown in 1997, which charts the changing fortunes of Britain's titled classes over the past 120 years through the personal archives and memories of aristocrats.
Born to Rule: 1875-1914. From country houses across Britain and Ireland aristocrats recall the political power, wealth and socialising which their ancestors enjoyed. But in one generation the landed classes faced the hardship of agricultural depression and the growth of democracy.
Director/Producer Sam Organ (Revised repeat)
