Royal Heritage

on BBC Two England

The Story of Britain's Royal Builders and Collectors. Told by Huw Wheldon in a series of nine programmes 7: Victoria and Albert
SIR HUW WHELDON describes the family life of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert at Osborne House, and the background to their official duties at Buckingham Palace, which remains the centre for State Ceremonial. Prince Albert's capacities for organisation and design were shown to the full during the rebuilding of the Palace of Westminster and the Great Exhibition of 1851. The Queen's grief at his death is reflected in the magnificent Royal Mausoleum at Frog-more.
The BBC at its ceremonious best. You cannot seriously fault it. (THE GUARDIAN) A vivid, detailed royal portrait, this time of Victoria and Albert. I enjoyed it so much I felt cross when the end titles came up. (DAILY EXPRESS) Historical adviser j. H. PLUMB Producer MICHAEL GILL Directed by ANN TURNER
