On the evening of 5 May 1980 television coverage of the world snooker final was interrupted by live reports from the Iranian Embassy in London, where six Arab terrorists had been holding 26 hostages for more than five days.
The siege was coming to a dramatic end as balaclava-clad SAS men, dressed in black and clutching machine guns, stormed the blazing building, watched live on television by millions of viewers across the world.
Peter Taylor reveals the inside story of the siege, told by the SAS soldiers who were there and the hostages whose lives they saved, in a documentary first shown in July 2002.
