Die Kathrin
To celebrate the centenary of Korngold's birth, Brendan Carroll introduces the first recording of his last opera. It is a sentimental love story set against a colourful panorama of soldiers, students, nightclub singers and melodramatic villains. Never far from the world of operetta, Die Kathrin displays the same melodic gift that made Korngold one of the first great film composers.
