Betsy de la Porte came to the Royal College of Music in 1924 as an Overseas Scholar from the University of South Africa. After a year or two she obtained an Operatic Exhibition and remained a further two years at the Royal College of Music. Then she studied opera for two years in Germany. Three years ago Miss de la Porte joined the Sadler's Wells company and has since appeared at Covent Garden and Glyndebourne. She will appear in the production of Boris Godunov at the forthcoming Sadler's Wells season.
Etienne Amyot is also a South
African artist. Bom in 1909, he studied composition and piano until he was fifteen at the South African College of Music. Then he came to London and went to the Royal College of Music under Lloyd Powell, and afterwards to Berlin to finish with Karol Szreter.
