Eagle Country
Narrator BARRY PAINE
The Scottish Highlands and Islands are remote and rugged. Here you can see Britain's rarest animals. Golden eagles breed, and peregrines. Red deer march majestically across the roads; and you might glimpse the rarest of all - the pine marten.
Dick Balharry is responsible for both the animals and land of this vast area, as Nature Conservancy Council warden. He believes that to deny access to people is like locking up a Rembrandt in a vault; and it's his problem to make sure that people do not spoil the very things they have come to enjoy.
