Jessye Norman
With Joan Bakewell. Since attending the University of Michigan in the sixties, where she studied with French baritone Pierre Bernac ,
American soprano Jessye Norman has become widely admired as an interpreter of French repertoire.
Today she talks about her links with France, which include being a Commandeur de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, having an orchid named after her by the Natural History
Museum in Paris and singing the Marseillaise at the bicentenary celebrations of the French Revolution.
