This Irish comedy by Dennis Laxton is all about miraculous and comic happenings in a small Irish town. Pat O'Connolly is very sick - so sick that the daughter who lives at home, Kathleen, has summoned the daughter who lives in Dublin, Maureen, to his bedside. For though one might not think it, with his high spirits and peppery temper, Pat is eighty-five years old, and this may be his last illness. Certainly it is a very remarkable illness, for in the night Pat is favoured by a visit from a pair of angels - Angel Peter and Angel John. What is more, they turn out to be very Irish angels, and very sporting angels, too. So much so that they allow him three chances to settle up old scores before morning. It is an offer no Irishman could refuse...
