The Cameramen 1939-45
Images and memories of World War II recalled by the cameramen and illustrated by their film.
The attempt to capture the bridge at Arnhem was both heroic and disastrous. By September 1944 the River Rhine was the last major obstacle in the path of the advancing Allies and once across, the way to the heart of Germany would be open.
Mike Lewis, a sergeant cameraman with the Parachute Regiment dropped into the Arnhem trap.
He was lucky to escape with his life and his film recalls vividly the desperate fighting.
