Ten million animals are slaughtered for food in Britain every week.
In last week's documentary Brass Tacks questioned the ethics of those animal activists who are prepared to kill people to protect animals. As traditional attitudes to animal welfare come increasingly under attack, some meat producers are responding with 'meat you can eat with a clear conscience.' In schools butchers vie with animal rights organisations for the attention of our children. Will they be the next generation of meat eaters or the first generation truly committed to animal rights?
In tonight's programme Peter Taylor and the Brass Tacks audience discuss the new battle for the hearts, minds - and stomachs - of the nation. Studio director PAUL CAMPBELL Producer CHARLES BRUCE
