The Relief of the British Bases in Antarctica
Narrated by Duncan Carse
Ice and weather dictate whether the RRS John Biscoe 's annual voyage to relieve the bases manned by the scientists of the British Antarctic Survey will be a success or failure.
For three months this documentary follows the John Biscoe on its vital voyage through the Antarctic allowing us to share the problems and anxieties of her Master, Captain Malcolm Phelps , as he threads his way through the ice; to study the work and lifestyle of the scientists employed in the Antarctic; and above all to visit a world of icebergs, blizzards, snow-cap mountains, penguins and seals.
