Outlaw Clint Hollister is rescued from jail by his one-time partner
Jake Wade , after which
Jake is determined to go straight. But, like many fugitives before him, he finds his criminal past difficult to shake off - especially as he is the only person who knows where the money from a bank robbery is hidden.
This Western, by the director of such films as The
Magnificent Seven, gave co-stars Taylor and Widmark two of their strongest roles as the friends turned deadly enemies.
