On Saturday, BBC2 transmits the widely-acclaimed Royal Opera House production of Benjamin Britten 's Peter Grimes. The title role is sung by the great Canadian tenor Jon Vickers. Tonight, by way of introduction to the performance, he talks to Humphrey Burton about the opera, which he considers one of the finest in the repertoire.
