In 1956, on the eve of the Suez crisis. Sir Anthony Eden appointed him First Lord of the Admiralty. LORD hailsham recounts his reactions to the crisis, which led to Harold Macmillan taking over as Prime Minister after Eden resigned and to his own appointment as Chairman of the Conservative Party.
