A Portrait of Peter Hall

on BBC Two England

The Director of the National Theatre
Interviewed by STEPHEN FAY
I don'like giving myself away. I don'actually like being vulnerable - understood, I suppose. So why am I doing this programme? It's very contradictory.
As Director of the National Theatre, Peter Hall is widely known, but the man himself is not well known - there is an air of calculated ambiguity about him.
This documentary - filmed both at home and at work - attempts to look behind the facade to reveal his personal style; artistic attitudes and beliefs.
