Night Shift

on National Programme Daventry

View in Radio Times

A broadcast from Tower Bridge
There is a peculiarly human fascination in knowing how others are working while, with our day's work behind us, we sit over the fire, and-whether for that reason or not-Night Shift programmes like the one from Beachy Head lighthouse and the other from a lambing pen on the Wiltshire Downs were popular successes. The third
' Night Shift' may be an even greater success, for listeners are to visualise, and even hear, the great bridge being lifted , and a ship sailing through the gap towards the sea.
They will hear orders being given, bells ringing, as the ship moves slowly along ; a hail to the captain, the captain's good-bye. Something of all that goes on will be conveyed by actual sounds and by the commentary given by T. Woodrooffe.
