Sons of the Blood: 3: I beg your pardon, I thought you were dead...

on BBC Two England

Written and narrated by Kenneth Griffith

Black Week 1900... a shocked and incredulous British Empire learned of disaster following disaster in the South African War. The humiliations had to be revenged. So that the old warrior-hero Lord Roberts of Kandahar whose only son had been killed during 'Black Week' - was appointed Commander-in-Chief. As the Boer and British veterans recall, the war was about to enter an even grimmer phase.
