Belinda, orphaned by a car crash, arrives at the Pollards' remote Exmoor sheep farm, but the arrival is resented by her cousin
Tom. That evening another orphan arrives, an abandoned baby fawn. They bring up the fawn, and then realise that she has to be taught to be afraid of people before she can be returned to the wild.
