The Secrets of Sleep
Is sleep a waste of time? Scientists have recently discovered people who sleep 15 minutes a night and still remain active and healthy. Their existence has forced researchers to reconsider many of our basic beliefs about the functions of both sleep and dreams. With electric light, we can now remain active all night long, so is sleep unnecessary? And do sleep-inducing drugs do more harm than good?
This film features some of the remarkable new work going on here and in America, in an attempt to unravel the mysteries of what some call ' the dark kingdom.'
