Written by Correlli Barnett
Until the Boer War the British basked in Imperial glory: domination of the seas, worldwide power, peace and progress. But some saw dangerous weaknesses: educational, social and industrial development lagged behind that of Imperial Germany. The British Army and the Royal Navy left much to be desired. Yet by 1918 the German challenge had been defeated.
Narrated by Robert Hardy.
