Billy Wilder Directs The Seven Year Itch

on BBC Two England

starring Marilyn Monroe, Tom Ewell.
Screenplay by Billy wilder and George Axelrod. Based on the play by George Axelrod.

Wilder's comic movie established Marilyn in her role as 'sex symbol' and as a major star.
She displays her genius for comedy as 'the girl' who moves into the apartment above a middle-aged executive who is enjoying a New York summer free of his wife and children. Marilyn innocently becomes the object of Richard's sexual fantasies and his apparent marital itch.
