By Appointment to George Bernard Shaw

on BBC Two England

Gabriel Pascal was the only person to whom Bernard Shaw would give permission to film his precious plays. They started in fine style with the now famous Pygmalion. Then there was Major Barbara and the ill-fated Caesar and Cleopatra.
Pascal died penniless in New York attempting to set up a musical called My Fair Lady. His widow Valerie Pascal, now rich on the proceeds, recently returned to this country.
Joan Bakewell talked to her.
