The speaker first met Sigurd Stocke , a Lapp reindeer owner, a few miles north of the Arctic Circle. Sigurd Stocke explained why he would never give up his traditional way of life. 'I I shall die happy as a nomad,' he said, for it is the only way in which one can see the fruits of the earth.'
