Gordon Wilkins covers the world of motoring
With Michael Frostick
The most interesting new car at the 1969 Turin Motor Show is a small saloon, the same size as the British Mini, made near Milan by Autobianchi. It has a 900cc engine driving the front wheels, disc brakes, four seats, 10 sq ft of flat luggage space, and three doors including one at the back. Top speed is over 85 mph and the price in this country will be about £700. Autobianchi plan to produce up to 500 of these new baby cars every day, a challenge to the future of the British Leyland Mini which is now more than ten years old.
