Coverage of the final day of competition at the XXVI Olympiad in Atlanta, introduced by Sue Barker. in the marathon (12.05pm start) -the last athletics medal of the Games -the trio of former World Cupchampion Richard Nerurkar , Peter Whitehead and Steve Brace are carrying British hopes. Britain has neverwon gold in the men's marathon but has collected silver four times, the most recent back in 1964. The last British medallist in this event was
Charlie Spedding , who won bronze 12 years ago in Los Angeles. With commentary by David Coleman and Brendan Foster.
The first round of the individual show jumpingfinal takes place this afternoon, and there are high hopes of British success. John and Michael Whitaker and Nick Skelton , in particular, are expected to feature prominently. With commentary by Michael Tucker and Stephen Hadley.
There are also sixgold medals to be won today in canoeing.
