on BBC Two England

This week's theme: Story-telling
Masacclo (1401-1428) The Tribute Money at Santa Maria del Carmine, Florence
MASACCIO died young, only 26 or 27 years old, yet he is recognised as one of the masters of Renaissance art.
This fresco sets out a complete story. The theme, the superiority of the spirit, clearly excited Masaccio's sympathy and it inspired this, his masterpiece. Written and narrated by ALISTAIR SMITH
