A Film for the Family: Plymouth Adventure

on BBC One London

Starring Spencer Tracy, Gene Tierney, Van Johnson
with Leo Genn, Dawn Addams

Three hundred and fifty years ago, the Mayflower left Plymouth for the 'new world.' This afternoon's film tells the epic story of this tiny ship's 96-day voyage. Buffeted by winter storms, maltreated by the captain - a great performance by Spencer Tracy - and overcome by sickness, the settlers eventually set foot on the Cape Cod peninsula.
