Ashkenazy-Back in the USSR

on BBC Two England

Twenty-six years after he left Russia,
Vladimir Ashkenazy returned to
Russia last year to give two concerts with the Royal
Philharmonic Orchestra. He is joined by another Russian pianist, Andrei Gavrilov who is the soloist in Rachmaninov's Second
Piano Concerto. The prelude to Musorgsky's
Khovanshchina, Walton's
Second Symphony, Ravel's Daphnis and Chloe and Tchaikovsky's Valse des Fleurs complete the programme.
