Introduced and narrated by Harold Evans, Editor, The Sunday Times
Four films about the world of journalism in different countries. Each is a portrait of a publication that stands outside the mainstream of its own society.
Launched in 1967 as a rock music magazine in San Francisco, Rolling Stone has grown up in ten years to become a major force in American publishing. It is the brainchild of Jann Wenner who began it when he was 21. He took the title from Bob Dylan 's song 'Like a Rolling Stone.' Wenner has been labelled the boy wonder of American journalism.' And Rolling Stone is certainly a success. It now sells over half-a-million copies every issue, and grossed over $12 million this year.
