In this programme, introduced by Robin Ray , the outstanding American pianist Jerome Rose plays the first book of the Années de Pelerinage, Liszt's musical notebook of his travels through Switzerland: a sequence of nine Romantic piano pieces -some familiar, some rarely heard - ranging from extreme simplicity to some of the most powerful of Liszt's compositions.
