Eleven programmes looking into current research on the frontiers of science.

The Concord will fly at more than twice the speed of sound. But after Concord another generation of hypersonic aircraft, faster still, will result from today's research in aerodynamics and propulsion technology. If cruising speeds are to rise to Mach 5 and 6 and 7 entirely new problems await solution by airframe and engine designers-working together more closely than ever before.
