' Law and Order now'
H. M. CONACHER
This talk is intended to explain what is meant by law and order and to describe the institutions by which it is maintained and safeguarded. In Scotland the administration of justice is mainly in the hands of whole-time professional judges sitting in the High Court in Edinburgh (or the Circuit Courts for criminal cases) or in the Sheriff Court 'in the County. The ' unpaid ' Justice of the Peace plays a smaller part in Scotland than in England.
