Nomads of the Wind

on BBC Two England

This new five-part series looks at man and nature in the south seas. The Polynesians set out to conquer the Pacific 2,000 years ago; like the people, the wildlife was also carried by wind and wave to every speck of land in this vast island world.
The series begins at the heart of Polynesia, the tropical islands of Tahiti. Here lush forests and clear lagoons are habitat to a huge range of exotic animals. But there is also a dark side to paradise, among a people who were ruled by taboo and sacred ritual long before the arrival of Captain Cook. Narrated by Tim Pigott-Smith .
