The Sextet: Night Duty

on BBC Two England

by Peter Ransley
A series of eight plays
[Starring] Michele Dotrice, Ruth Dunning, Denholm Elliott, Richard Vernon, Dennis Waterman, Billie Whitelaw

Ted Swan is the night superintendent at a mental hospital where his duties include keeping an eye on a community of patients who govern themselves. Swan's world is a cosy one: secure job, desirable wife-a shade too desirable perhaps. And tonight the smashing of a hospital window starts a train of events he cannot control.
