June 1900. As Major Matt Lewis rides into Peking with a detachment of marines, he is appalled to see a British missionary killed by men wearing the red-patched robes of the Boxer rebels. Within a few days isolated riots have escalated into open war against the city's foreign legations. The fate of China and the prestige of the colonial powers is at stake, as well as the lives of the ambassadors and their families as the siege of the legations intensifies.
